The #1 Aftercare of Tattoo and Piercing Professionals Worldwide
We recommend using H2Ocean's Piercing Aftercare Sea Salt Spray for all new body piercings. Use 2-3 times a day, by spraying directly on the area or spraying on a Q-tip and cleaning around the piercing.
DO NOT clean more than 3 times per day. Cleaning too often is actually worse than not cleaning enough.
DO NOT touch the body piercing or rotate jewelry during the healing period.
DO NOT take it out. Body piercings may take many months to completely heal. Changing or removing jewelry should be avoided during this time.
DO NOT let the body piercing come in contact with another persons bodily fluids.
Never use alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, or hand soap to clean your body piercings, because they may damage healthy cells and cause scar tissue.
Products that contain petroleum are not recommended as it may collect and promote the growth of bacteria.
Avoid hot tubs, pools, lakes, etc. until the piercing is completely healed.
Reduce the intake of alcohol, caffeine, and aspirin during the healing process.
Avoid alcohol, smoking, chewing tobacco, and spicy foods with a new oral piercing.
Avoid direct sunlight, tanning beds, oils, and lotions.
Tight fitting clothes may irritate a new piercing.
Practicing good hygiene helps during the healing period.
While using H2Ocean's Piercing Aftercare Spray, do not use any other aftercare products.
Always wash your hands thoroughly with antibacterial soap before caring for your new tattoo.
If wrapped, leave the bandage covering your tattoo on for 1-2 hours to prevent bacteria from entering and to allow any blood to clot.
Wash your tattoo with warm water and a mild antibacterial UNSCENTED soap. Pat dry your tattoo with a clean paper towel. DO NOT use a bathroom towel as they often carry bacteria. Allow to air dry more thoroughly for 10-15 minutes.
Next, apply a small amount of either H2Ocean All Natural Tattoo Aftercare cream or ointment, or a mild UNSCENTED hand lotion 2-4 times a day during the healing process.
On average, between 7-10 days into the healing process of your tattoo, it will begin to scab and peel. DO NOT pick or scratch at your new tattoo. Let it peel naturally, like a sunburn.
Be aware that a tattoo is a permanent body modification.
If serious infection occurs (extreme redness and irritation, over swelling of area, colored discharge, or increasing pain) please contact your artist and physician immediately.
If you have any questions or concerns during or after the healing process, please do not hesitate to speak with your artist.
A Few Don'ts:
DON'T soak your tattoo in water for the first 2 weeks. NO baths, pools, hot tubs, lakes, etc.
DON'T tan (spray or bed) or lay in direct sunlight for 2 weeks. After 2 weeks has passed, apply sunscreen over the tattoo while in the sun or tanning.
DON'T pick or scratch at your healing tattoo, as this may lead to improper scabbing, which may damage the tattoo or result in scarring.
DON'T apply alcohol, peroxide, vaseline, lanolin, mineral oil, or antibacterial cream to your tattoo.
DON'T shave or wax the tattooed area until the tattoo is fully healed.
